Dear Mangie,
You made it to 2022! I know transitioning to a new year a single woman feels traumatic and you feel like no progress has been made because you’re still single, but baby you’re on your way to arriving. Love from 218th street may not want you back, but it’s okay. Your friends and family are still here. You still matter, you’re still loved. I know you want to go see him and tell him for the 100th time you’re sorry or that you want to work things out, but it’s time to let it go. 2021 was so last year. Literally. I love you so much. You’re beautiful, talented, smart, and kindhearted. You’re a hot mess at times, but I love that too. You’re smile lights up the room and your walk causes them to stare. You have so much to give, so much to share. Knowledge, comfort, encouragement. You nearly counted yourself out last year. You nearly gave up. You’ve loved, lost, loved, and lost again. But you’ve loved and continue to love. You’ve made it through 6 Christmases and 6 New Years a single woman—- I almost forgot Valentine’s Day and you’re still here. Be kind to yourself, get out of bed, be present for your loved ones. Be present for you.
